Social Advertising

Social Advertsing seems to be gaining speed along with the increase in consumer social usage.  According to a May, 2011 survey by The Pivot Conference, two thirds of surveyed US based advertsing and marketing agencies reported that they were already advertising on social platforms and an additional 18% said that they planned to do so in the coming year.    Facebook’s ad offerings posted the highest overall customer satisfaction with respondents rating Facebook as excellent or good.  No other social platform performed quite as well with a mere 11% of Twitter advertisers ranking their offerings as excellent.

Emarketer estimates that Facebook will generate as much as $2.19 billion and Twitter $140 million in US advertising revenue this year alone.  In light of these positive earnings, Twitter is expected to ramp up its social advertising offerings with additional products and a much desired self service option.  At this time, 54% of the surveyed respondents currently running ads were satisfied with their return.

In light of these early results, the social networks will continue to grow their advertsing offerings and educate potential advertisers for positive placement and return.  Stay tuned for more on social advertising.
