Are you Verified?

Chances are that if you manage a social media network for a state agency you have not had the opportunity to advertise.  Most communications departments do not dedicate funds towards social media advertising but those with the ability have been highly successful in both gathering likes and leading people to their desired destination.  Social media advertising works and perhaps we will see more of an effort to reallocate funds in this direction in the future.

In the meantime, Twitter has introduced organic tweet analytics for verified accounts to help you understand your Twitter activity.  Click here for more information: https://blog.twitter.com/2014/introducing-organic-tweet-analytics and spend some time getting up to speed on your Twitter metrics.

Is your account verified?  Please see the Twitter rules for verification below and if you have these qualifications covered, send me an email.  I will combine all of our verification requests into one single email and pass it along to Twittter.

To be considered for verification, requests must in general:

  • · come from a .gov (or appropriate jurisdictional equivalent) e-mail address
  • · have the account registered with a .gov (or appropriate jurisdictional equivalent) e-mail address
  • · provide for each account name the full name of the entity it represents
  • · provide for each account two contact names and .gov (or equivalent) e-mail addresses
  • · be regarding a non-protected account that has started tweeting and has a complete profile, including: real name, biography, photo and a .gov (or equivalent) URL
  • · include the URL of a .gov (or equivalent) webpage that references the account either with a link or follow button

Only requests including these elements will be reviewed to determine whether the account(s) in question qualifies for verification.
