On September 12, the nation will be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of AmeriCorps – a national service program that engages Americans of all ages and backgrounds in community service to meet critical needs. The federal agency that funds AmeriCorps, known as the Corporation for National and Community Service, is asking that high profile Twitter and Facebook accounts join their Thunderclap campaign.
Please join the Thunderclap campaign and thank over 21,000 Maryland residents that have served through AmeriCorps as well as spread the word about the 20th Anniversary.

Remember to take care when you are posting for your official accounts. Mistakes happen but this is perhaps one that you should avoid. As you can see, they attempted to use humor to deflect the fallout but anyone who manages a business social media account knows that there excuse was a little weak.
Don’t forget the MEMA Preparedness Twitter Chat on 9/15!
Mark your calendars! The Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) will be hosting a Twitter chat on September 15 from 12pm – 1pm using the hashtag #MDPrepares. MEMA will be facilitating discussion on topics related to National Preparedness Month, including free disaster preparedness tools and resources for Maryland residents and businesses.
