Twitter & Shout!
Did you know that the Beatles performed a song called Twist & Shout? Yep, it’s on the Please Please Me album released in 1963. I know this seems off topic for my Social Media Monday blog and perhaps it is but crafting today’s twitter tip reminded me of a conversation I had with another communicator last week. We were comparing notes on the challenges of our jobs when she explained that she had a foolproof way of crafting headlines during moments when she feels less than inspired. She uses a Beatles song title but interchanges a word or two. It’s ingenious really. You should give it a try!
Do you want to shout on Twitter? If the answer is ‘YES’ remember to never start an original tweet with the @ symbol! If you want all of your followers AND the followers of the person or organization you are tagging to see your post, you must add a period before the @ symbol. I am seeing many of our accounts make this mistake.
Here is an easy graphic to explain the difference.
THANK YOU for Making End Hunger in Calvert County #1!
End Hunger in Calvert County, one of the longest-standing members of the Partnership to End Childhood Hunger in Maryland won the $20,000 grant from Walmart to support their food pantry, Chesapeake Cares. They absolutely couldn’t have won without your help! This is a perfect example of the power of our Maryland State Social Media Team!
WELL DONE & THANK YOU!
