 HootTips

Our HootSuite Enterprise platform is full of features that will help you work more efficiently. For the next few weeks, I will feature some of the powerful tools at your fingertips starting today with using geocode to search on Twitter. Remember that you can take short tutorials from HootSuite University anytime you desire. Look for the link on the left sidebar of your HootSuite dashboard.

Using Geocodes in Search

Interested in closely following events at a particular location during an event?   Follow these steps:

  • Go to Google Maps and enter the address of the location where you would like to search and right click on the pin.

one

  • Select ‘What’s here” and copy the lat/lon from the bottom of the address.

two

  • Return to your HootSuite Enterprise dashboard and enter the following text into the search box: geocode:(paste lat/lon and get rid of all spaces),(then add a radius such as 20km)

three

  • Remember that you will only receive the tweets from people who have public profiles.
  • If you would like to fine tune your search, add keywords and + afterwards.
  • You can save your search as a stream by clicking the prompt at the bottom right of the search box.

Extend Your Reach By Sharing Your Campaign Information Here

Social Media Monday is the place where you are able to share important agency campaigns with your fellow state social media managers. Many of our communication teams are unable to carve off funds for social ad campaigns so our combined reach becomes a powerful tool to gain organic reach.

Send me the details of the campaign along with links and suggested posts as early as possible so that we can disperse the information early and often.
