Social Media Monday (Vol. 5, No. 8)
March 23, 2015
HootSuite Mobile Geo-Search
Have you found yourself at an event or rally wondering what tweets were being shared around you? You can use your HootSuite account directly from your mobile device to get the pulse of the crowd. Using your browser, login to your HootSuite account and follow these directions.
Here’s How it Works:
- In your dashboard, locate the search icon (magnifying glass) in the upper righthand corner.
- Enter your search term in the Twitter search field. For example, someone looking for more dental patients could type “#dentist.”
- Click the crosshairs icon on the right side of the search field to find local search results.
- The Twitter search stream will automatically refresh showing local search results within a 25 km radius from your current dashboard location.
You can make the radius smaller by changing the geo-location in search to as small as 500 meters. If you are using a laptop computer, be sure to download the Hootlet feature which can be found in your tools tab on the left sidebar, then use google maps to drill down to your exact location. Look for the ‘tweets near here’ feature embedded in your google maps page after the Hootlet extension has been loaded. Remember to use Chrome as your browser.
Give it a try!
Extend Your Reach By Sharing Your Campaign Information Here
Remember that Social Media Monday is the place where you are able to share important agency campaigns with your fellow state social media managers. Many of our communication teams are unable to carve off funds for social ad campaigns so our combined efforts become a powerful tool to gain organic reach.
Send me the details of the campaign along with links and suggested posts as early as possible so that we can disperse the information early and often.
