We will return to a more traditional Social Media Monday post next week, but this week we decided to review Thanksgiving and social media.

Thanksgiving brings to mind turkeys, pilgrims, and family feasts . But why not use this time for a quick Thanksgiving social media campaign? Could you do a quick online contest, promote an upcoming event, or support your agency philanthropy?

YES!

This time of year people are thinking of others, giving, and preparing for next year.  So take this time to show your followers that you are doing the same by demonstrating your involvement in the community.   People are open to offers that get them into the swing of this festive time of year. While you are thinking of Thanksgiving start thinking of the holidays as a whole and prepare a marketing plan to power you through the end of the year.

That means this is a great time to market to the community, even if you aren’t selling stuffing and cranberries. But you might want to make your Thanksgiving social media campaign fun and engaging rather than on your agency in order to warm people up to you.

Remember that this time of year is about others, and not about you.  So be sure to continue that idea through all of your marketing on and offline.
